Five Minute Friday: See

It's Friday. It's another five minutes with thegypsymama.

See.

I'm a people watcher so I'm looking around all the time.

I like to notice shoes and purses.
I notice the spices on and how the big hunks of potatoes didn't get mashed at the Cheesecake Factory.
I notice the details of their lives buillt in to the collages on their doors at Emeritus.
I notice how she looks at him and how he looks at her.
I notice when my little guy tries to sneak the forbiddent toy to school.
I notice the flowers in driveways and the pretty containers chosen to grow them.

But I don't always see---

the face begging for me to meet his eyes when I'm cooking dinner and he says "Mommy" again or

the heart of my husband when he feels I'm distant because life is pulling us in different directions

the purpose in my circumstances

I've been known to trip over things, especially the shoes strewn about my house.  I usually get a little frustrated when I go sailing headfirst into the wall, while my family snickers.  When I fuss, they remind me the shoes were right there in front of me, I just didn't see them. I wasn't looking in the right direction.

While I'm noticing life all around me I sometimes fail to see what is right in front of me.

Lord, help me not to just look, but to look in the right direction and to really see what you've put right here.

I see you
Happy Friday y'all!

  1. yes ...

it's so much easier to look on the outside than to gaze deeply on the inside at the pain, confusion, the unknowns, the unspokens ...

  4. The fact that you like to notice shoes and purses drew me right in! (I do too!!!) But the part that really captured my attention was "While I'm noticing life all around me I sometimes fail to see what is right in front of me. "
I think that is something that I have been feeling recently but not really been able to put into words until I saw those words written here! Thanks so much for helping me out (even without meaning to)
