Five Minute Friday: Unexpected

"Thank You for yesterday Mr. John" I said as I scooted my boys onto the bus.

The day before, Isaiah had a bit of a
death grip on mommy as the tears flowed begging not to have to get on the bus
kind of morning.

After our meeting victory with the school over the before mentioned bus incident, this made my heart anxious.  But, Mr. John had been kind, and gentle and talked my baby onto the bus.

So, as I was finished my thank you and he began to put the bus in park and make his way down the steps and onto my driveway, I expected to hear that things had gone wrong somewhere during the 4 minute ride to school.

Have you ever been to Mabry's Mill?  he asked.  I was a little shocked by the question.  What does this have to do with the small bus?

After answering his question, he began to tell me that his family has a farm there, and he wanted to invite Rex and me to come, bring the boys and spend a Saturday with them soon.  He told me about all the things our "high energy" boys could do.  Things like ride tractors, feed cows, fish and as he was talking I got lost.  I can't remember all the energy zapping animal loving fall inhaling things he was describing to me.  I was doing a happy dance in my head.  Could it be, that this man actually cares about my boys.  Cares enough to cross the lines between small bus driver and host.  Cares enough to invest in their lives, outside #15?

What a wonderful unexpected surprise.
