A beautiful sunny Easter in Florida.
A slight change in our plans that our family would attend mass at a friends church in WinterPark. Rex headed out alone- he never made it. Seems the Florida toll rolls are serious when they say they want a toll in order to pass- and NO, they do not take debit cards. Several hours later and the help of me and mapquest, the frustrated daddy made his way home avoiding all toll roads. Now you're wondering why he didn't just stop somewhere for cash- a new debit card in Florida- un-memorized pin in sock drawer in VA. Don't worry FL- will will mail in the two citations for unpaid tolls- via check only as soon as we get home to our checkbooks.
Easter bunny- and Aunt MaryEllen, Uncle Gary left goodies for all the kids. Isaiah's chocolate bunny on a stick didn't last too long- could have been because the change of plans for the morning resulted in nothing in the house to eat for breakfast- and rental car in search of free roads....
Kids swam, and once daddy was back, me, Shayne and Murray headed to Wal-Mart - needed supplies for week- steak and potato's for dinner and some pool items on the list. Oh, and Diet Mountain Dew, Diet Coke and Juice boxes for an army. Don't worry health nuts- we did purchase some bottled waters too.
Naps for the pre-schoolers, quiet swimming for adults. Steak, potatoes, hot dogs and salad and then we were off to the Magic Kingdom. Parking spot- Grumpy 115. $14 for 4 hours of parking- as my precious mother-in-law would say- WOW.
It is true, there is something magical about this place. The faces of my kids (all of them) was precious, and so worth the money we spent to get here.
Isaiah exclaimed -- "Oh my goodness, I can't believe it" I think that was my favorite quote of the night- and I did hear it often, to anything and everything that brought him joy.
The tram into the transportation center- oh my goodness, i can't believe it
The monorail- oh my goodness, i can't believe it
The Peter Pan ride- oh my goodness, i can't believe it
It's a Small World- oh my goodness, i can't believe it...
The parade- oh my goodness, i can't believe it
You get the picture!
Of course, there was pouting everytime I told him - No, we are not buying a sword tonight, hat, popcorn whatever... I wonder how many millions of dollars have been made at Disney as a result of pouting kids and temper tantrums.
The Dumbo ride proved to give the most excitment of the night- sorry Disney, it wasn't the flying elephant. It started with two boys needing potty breaks, in the middle of the line. Thanks to Uncle Gary for taking Isaiah, I darted out and back in with Elijah. Then, it moved on to me explaining to a "mentally challenged" woman that yes, the black one is mine. I'm still trying to process that whole scene in my head- and I know it will not be the last time that comes up. And then, the big finale (you know it wouldn't be an Allen trip without some- well, arguing)
The scene, Dumbo. Halianne and the boys wanted to ride together, so me and MaryEllen rode behind them. We had a great ride. They argued over the joy stick the entire time. We could hear them. So could the on-lookers. Ride ends- I approach the purple elephant - girl crying (hand her off to Murray) and before I can get the boys out, Isaiah hits Elijah to which Elijah returns a great hit right to the face. (Shayne, I keep telling you to stop teaching him the proper punching techniques) Now there are 3 crying. Isaiah is screaming and holding his face, Elijah is yelling, "he hit me first, he hit me first." Yes, still on-lookers. Back to the bathroom we go--- Elijah questions why I have my mad face.
A little 1 on 2 in the companion bathroom and I am thankful to report that Mommy wins.
"oh my goodness, I can't believe this"
Shayne and Rex missed the match- they had gone off to find Space Mountain and the big fun rides. Yes, even Shayne is having fun. It must be true, Disney is the happiest place on earth!
We all meet up for a ride on the roller coaster- everyone met the height requirements and we had a great ride; although I don't think Halianne or Isaiah will ride again. Elijah loved it and can see him and Shayne riding over and over in the near future. The wonderful lights parade at 11pm and then the Hall of Presidents before heading back to our cars around 12:45 am. Finish it off with milkshakes from McDonald's and all are in bed by 2:00 am.
I'm still working on getting the pictures uploaded.
We packed this Easter Sunday as full as we could.
